Site Visits in Punta Cana

Year after year travelers are drawn to Punta Cana in The Dominican Republic. The island’s easy accessibility from the United States, tropical blue waters, and assortment of budget friendly all-inclusive properties make The Dominican Republic a go-to destination.

BE The Travel rang in 2019 on the island, and before we went home, got to check out four all-inclusive resorts. Interested in Punta Cana? Keep reading, and then let’s talk travel

Excellence Punta Cana

Excellence properties were designed with a specific target audience in mind: the romance travelers. To the honeymooners, the babymooners, the couples celebrating an anniversary or simply those looking for a relaxing romantic getaway “just because”, Excellence Punta Cana is for you!

Every #BeTraveler who has visited an Excellence has been thoroughly impressed, which tells you they do a fabulous job. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous, and the resort offers a large variety of room categories both in the Excellence Club (with extra amenities) and the main resort. Excellence Resorts in general are great products for a great price, but Excellence Punta Cana specifically sure is something extra special!

Paradisus Palma Real

There are four resorts that sit under the Paradisus umbrella in the Dominican Republic:

  1. Paradisus Punta Cana is more tropical; offering an option for budget travelers.

  2. Paradisus Palma Real is considered to be more luxurious; presenting a beachfront option for a moderate budget.

  3. Paradisus Reserve focuses more on a quaint and private atmosphere, and is even more of an upscale resort than Palma Real, only without the beachfront access. This is the lower of the two luxurious Paradisus properties on the island.

  4. Paradisus Grande Reserve is the highest end of Paradisus-luxury, set far aside from the crowds, but still without direct beachfront access.

Paradisus Palma Real is a fantastic option for moderate-luxury within the limitations of a friendly budget. The resort offers a high-quality, adults-only ‘Royal Service’ section with extra perks and amenities, while the main resort delivers a great product for families with children under 18. With Paradisus Palma Real’s 12 restaurants, beach activities in a beautiful beach setting, live performances each night, disco, and several beach bars in between, your family is sure to enjoy a visit!

Barcelo Bavaro Palace

Similar to Paradisus, ‘Barcelo’ is a brand name with four resorts that fall under its category in Punta Cana. Of the four resorts, ‘Barcelo Grande’ is the name that umbrellas the top two Barcelo resorts on the island: Barcelo Bavaro Palace and Barcelo Bavaro Beach.

These two resorts sit adjacent to one another, and those staying at Barcelo Bavaro Beach have access to both resorts, but are limited to certain restaurants. Meanwhile, Barcelo Bavaro Palace is much bigger than its sister resort, the adults-only Barcelo Bavaro Beach, however it does not have access to its adults-only amenities.

Yikes — a bit confusing, right? Unfortunately, that’s a little bit how are stay felt, as well.

Nevertheless, If you fit the description of “big group of travelers trying to accommodate a range of different price points” or “vacationers that don’t care entirely too much about the finest dining or luxurious accommodations and instead have ‘fun lively atmosphere,’ ‘unlimited beverages,’ ‘beautiful blue waters, ‘big pools,’ or ‘family-friendly’ on your check list” — then the Barcelo Bavaro Palace is for you!

Barcelo Bavaro Beach

The Barcelo Bavaro Beach is (on a much smaller scale) very similar to the Palace. Barcelo Bavaro Beach does not offer you top notch rooms or the best cuisine, but the grounds are very pretty and the people are super friendly. The best part about Barcelo Bavaro Beach is this: not only does it offers the luxury of an adults-only atmosphere, but if you take a short walk down to the Palace, you’ll find more dining (your all-inclusive access is applicable to a handful of Palace restaurants as well) and activity options (read: very fun DIY sailing, kayaking, wind-surfing, pool DJ’s, and more!). You have two resort personalities in one!
